Welcome to Artificial Memory

Artificial Memory is a group of scholars investigating the consequences of the surge of artificial intelligence (AI) – particularly generative AI – and its reception in memory studies and how it potentially transforms the way collectives remember, and how memory research is done.

This group was created following the publication of a special issue of Memory Studies Review. In this special issue, the two editors, Sarah Gensburger and Frédéric Clavert, as well as the authors of its articles, are asking this simple question: is AI the future of collective memory?

To continue the discussion started in this special issue and in a study day organised in Luxembourg in the Fall 2023, this website is proposing, for now, two services: a list and a collaborative bibliography.
